Urban Loneliness

I stumbled across this CBC podcast today. Urban loneliness is something I've been thinking a fair bit about over the last couple of months. It turns out that Vancouver is infamous for it. You'd think that a city populated by a couple of million people would facilitate inclusion. Apparently we fail horribly at getting to know our neighbours.

This is a good listen. Check it out.

I'm going to make a point of saying hi to people a lot more often.

Gig at St James Hall

I've been invited to play a benefit show at St. James Hall in Vancouver on March 8th. The band is killer and rehearsals have been a ton of fun. The group is led by Richard Lowy, and I'll be playing bass with:

• Eric Reed - Lead Guitar
• Martin Fisk - Percussion
• and Stan Wardle - Harmonica

Stratocaster Pickup Height

I've always wondered about this. In the past I've simply raised the pickups until they sounded right to my ear. It turns out there's a bit of a method to it.

I used to think FB lends some credibility to small business, but anything I post for Vancouver Handyman rarely makes it onto anyone's feed.
